Northern Rail operates passenger rail services across the north of England from Hull in the east to Liverpool in the west. The business provides services throughout the north including Leeds, Manchester and Nottingham as well as hundreds of other stations. Currently Northern Rail is investing £1 billion into its infrastructure including £400 million into new state-of-the-art trains. Also as part of the upgrade the business will operate an extra 2,000 services a week. Northern Rail operate services to Hull, Goole and Grimsby which all have major ports on the Humber. This means that a number of the major ports on the Humber can be accessed by rail passengers from all over the UK.
