Colas Rail operates rail freight services across the UK and other European countries. They operate a wide range of services and operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The company’s head office is in the middle of London and it /has major depots in Wimbledon, Rugby, Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester. The services which are provided by Colas Rail are:
- Bulk Freight – timber, steel
- Intermodal Freight
- General Freight
- Specialist freight - chemicals
- Asset Hire
The business has a team dedicated to freight and has extensive knowledge of the market. As well as being a major business in rail freight in the UK, the business has a number of rail freight contracts in France. The business has 56 locomotives which have different capabilities to haul different types of cargo and wagons. The company operates more than 50 trains per day and has over 150 train drivers in the UK. Also, in addition to hauling freight, Colas is involved in the construction and design of railways for example, they have the ability to lay new track.
