Virgin Trains operate the main services on the East Coast mainline between London and locations on the east side of the UK including Doncaster, Hull, Leeds and up into Scotland. This mainline service allows people to travel between a number of major businesses centres in the UK such as London and Leeds in a short period of time. On an average weekday Virgin operates 155 services and around 100 services on both Saturday and Sunday and employs around 2800 people at stations, depots and offices up and down the line.

Virgin has 44 trains which operate on the East Coast mainline, 30 of which are electric trains and 14 which run on diesel. Virgin is in the middle of upgrading their fleet of trains at a cost of £21 million which will include a deep clean of every train, refurbished toilets, new carpets and seat covers.

In the Humber region Virgin operate services on the North Bank into Hull. The business also has a large number of services going through Doncaster and Leeds.
