Manufacturing
The manufacturing industry in the Humber and Yorkshire region has a long tradition and employs thousands of people throughout the area and throughout the supply chain. The region has a number of different types of manufacturing companies from manufacturing of large industrial equipment to household items. The region is known for a few very particular products which are manufactured around the area. An example of this is the manufacturing of Caravans which is based in Hull and the East Riding where a high percentage of UK caravans and static caravans are manufactured. Another manufacturing process well known in the area is the production of kitchen furniture and components with Howdens and Wren being based in the region. The region is an ideal location to manufacture due to the easy access to the Humber ports and the UK road network. In June 2017, the Yorkshire and Humber region had over 10% of England’s manufacturing jobs with almost 300,000 manufacturing jobs in the region.
